A sea of new communities

The first Agora Garden opened its doors in 2020. And from there it went fast. With amazing, engaged residents, the communities have flourished. Read more here.

In Viggohaven, in Holbæk, the residents go to the movies. Often and with each other for company. Here they enjoy dramas, comedies and everything in between - together.

Sitting in front of the TV with your knitting is great, but it's also pretty special to be able to knit while sharing a glass of wine and talking about everything and nothing - many people do that in the Agora gardens.

Here you are guaranteed to find like-minded people who share your passion for wine. Either as a single glass or as in Sophushaven, in Slagelse, where the residents have their very own wine club.

In Bodilhaven, in Odense, there are many beautiful voices. Singing together has become a cheerful tradition among the residents - both in everyday life and at parties.

More than just a home

The large, covered atrium garden

In all Agora Gardens communities, the homes are built around a large, covered atrium garden. Here there is peace and shelter from the vagaries of the Danish weather. And the many beds with trees, shrubs and plants give you a green view from your senior home. No matter where in the house you choose to live. Most importantly, you never have to lift a finger to maintain the garden. We do that for you. All you have to do is enjoy the atmosphere and the many cozy garden corners.

Moving into a senior community is a big decision. And perhaps filled with great considerations, questions and everything in between. We've answered the most frequently asked questions below. Hopefully, they'll help bring clarity and bring you closer to a decision - and hopefully the next great chapter in your life.

How does the community work?

When you move in, you automatically become a member of a residents' association. The residents' association elects a board of directors who look after the association's finances and interests. In addition, regular residents' meetings are held to discuss issues large and small. The residents are responsible for running the community, while our operating company Host facilitates and supports.

Are the two-bedroom homes suitable for couples?

The two-bedroom apartment is generally designed for a single person - but if you can be there, you can.

Can I see a trial home before moving in?

Yes, we do. There will be trial homes in all our buildings approximately 6 months before moving in. You can see the trial home at an Open House or at a personal viewing. See more about Open House or personal viewing under the individual buildings.

Can I park at my residence?

Yes, we do. Parking spaces are available at all our buildings. There are also charging stations for electric cars. There is also a covered space for your bike.

Is there an elevator?

There is either one passenger lift or elevator in all buildings. The type varies from location to location. The elevator is intended for passenger transport and cannot accommodate stretchers or moving loads.

How is the home heated?

The homes are heated with an air-to-air heat pump that runs on electricity - and there is electric heating in the bathroom floor. You therefore pay for heating and electricity together.

Can the heat pump cool?

The heat pump is not with cooling, as the building then does not comply with the energy framework required by the building regulations.

What kind of roof will go over the atrium garden?

The roof is made of polycarbonate, which is lighter than glass and lets in the same amount of light. Because it weighs less, the construction is lighter and therefore lets in more light overall. Polycarbonate makes the light more pleasant and diffuse. So you won't be blinded by the sun through the roof.

Does it get hot in the homes because of the atrium garden?

The heat pump takes in and circulates fresh air from outside the building and does not draw heat in from the atrium garden. Of course, if you have windows or a front door open to the atrium garden, warm air can enter your home.

Is there sun protection on the windows facing the atrium garden in all homes?

Solar shading is installed at the homes that, according to energy calculations, are exposed to the most sun.

What is the ceiling height in the homes?

The standard ceiling height is 250 cm, but it can vary from location to location.

Is there a washer and dryer in the accommodation?

You must bring your own washer and dryer. There are outlets and plugs for the washing machine and condenser dryer in the bathroom.

Is there room for a double bed in the two-bedroom home?

The layout of the two-bedroom apartments varies slightly from place to place. Therefore, you need to look at the floor plan for each community to see how big a bed is available.

Do you get your security deposit back when you move out?

If the property does not require maintenance or repair, the resident will get the full deposit back. The rented property must be returned clean, tidy and in the same condition as when the tenant moved in. Necessary repairs will be carried out by the landlord and will be deducted from the deposit.

Is the deposit with or without housing benefit?

Deposits and prepaid rent do not include housing benefit. It is the full amount that must be taken into account.

What is the deposit?

The deposit consists of one month's prepaid rent and three months' security deposit, payable upon signing the lease.

Is there a maintenance account for the homes?

The landlord is responsible for the interior maintenance. Therefore, an interior maintenance account is not created.

Will maintenance be deducted from my security deposit if I move?

Yes, maintenance of the property will be deducted from your security deposit. The property must be in the same condition as when you move in, with the exception of general wear and tear.

Can I smoke in the common areas?

Both indoor and outdoor common areas are completely smoke-free. There is a small smoking area in the outdoor common areas.

Is smoking allowed in the apartments?

Smoking is not allowed in the apartments. Smoking is only allowed in the outdoor smoking facilities.

Are pets allowed?

You can keep one dog or one cat. It can vary slightly from place to place whether dogs/cats are allowed in all homes or only selected ones. Other small animals are allowed to a limited extent. For example, small birds or fish are allowed in small aquariums. Reptiles and other exotic species are not allowed in the Agora Gardens. If you have a dog-sharing or overnight dog, you must also have accommodation where pets are allowed. Please note that the selection of pet-friendly accommodation may vary from place to place. If you are unsure if your pet is allowed to move with you, you are welcome to contact us.

Can I install satellite dishes?

It is not permitted to install satellite dishes in the Agora gardens.

Can I sign up for a property before the rental starts?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer sign-up before the start of the rental period. However, you can always sign up for our newsletter and receive information directly in your inbox when rentals open.

How is electricity and water paid for in the common areas?

The landlord pays the cost of both electricity and water in the common areas. In addition, we have solar panels on the roof that supply the common areas.

Do I need to sign up for electricity, water and heating?

It varies from place to place whether you are pre-subscribed to electricity or whether you have to set up a subscription yourself. You can read more under the individual senior housing communities.

Who provides internet and TV?

Your home will be prepared for TV and internet from a pre-selected provider. However, you can always choose another provider that uses the same distribution network. TV and internet are not part of the rent.

How old (or young) do I have to be to move in?

The Agora gardens are for those who are at least 50 years old and have no children living at home. There is no upper age limit for residents, but it is a requirement that you can take care of yourself.

Are there any other criteria you need to meet to be considered for housing?

You need to want to be part of a community and to contribute what you can.

Contributing doesn't always mean that you have to be the one to bake the cake, take the initiative or do a lot of the planning. You're also contributing when you just show up to events and have fun with your neighbors.

In Agorahaverne we have a resident intranet. This is where you can find practical information about your home. But it's also where you can talk to your neighbors, book shared facilities and plan activities together. It is therefore a requirement that you can operate a smartphone.
