What should I do if I can't get the underfloor heating to work?

Last updated on March 5, 2026

If you have followed all our steps for controlling the underfloor heating without success, it may be because the batteries in the thermostat are flat – or because the room sensor is not switched on at all.

Check whether the room sensor is switched on or replace the batteries – and make sure you use high-quality batteries (you will get the most for your money and a much more stable battery). Replacing the batteries in room sensors is part of the tenant's interior maintenance, which means that you, as the tenant, are responsible for the cost of this.

NB: When changing batteries, make sure that the room sensors do NOT change position. They are set to measure the exact room in which they are located. If a room sensor is placed in another room, it will continue to display and regulate the temperature for the original room to which it belongs.

After replacing the battery, it is also a good idea to check whether the room sensor is still switched on.
