How do I clean tiles in the bathroom and kitchen?

Last updated on March 5, 2026

Tiles are durable and practical—especially in bathrooms and kitchens—but they still require regular cleaning and proper maintenance. Grout is particularly susceptible to dirt, limescale, and discoloration. This guide is general and applies to the most common and typical types of tiles and grout in our properties.

Please note: Special rules may apply to the property you live in. Always check your property's specific resident folder before using various cleaning products and/or household appliances. You can find it here.

Daily/weekly cleaning

  • Use warm water and a mild cleaning agent suitable for tiles.
  • Wipe tiles with a cloth or sponge
  • Rinse with clean water to remove soap residue.
  • Wipe the tiles with a dry cloth – especially in the bathroom.

Good habits in everyday life

  • Dry tiles and fixtures after bathing to reduce limescale deposits.
  • Ensure good ventilation during and after bathing
  • It is better to clean a little and often than rarely and thoroughly.

Important!

  • Never use concentrated vinegar or acidic agents.
  • Avoid using steel wool or hard scouring pads.
  • Never use abrasive products such as "Rens-let" or "The Pink Stuff," as this can cause permanent damage and scratches to fixtures, tiles, and grout.
  • Avoid leaving cleaning products on surfaces for too long
  • Always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Please note: If cleaning products are used incorrectly and cause damage to surfaces or fixtures, you as the tenant will be liable for the repairs. It is therefore a good idea to be extra careful with the cleaning products you choose to use.
