"I am challenged and inspired by my neighbors. I see them - and they see me."
In the early, cold spring sun, we visit Vibeke in Augusthaven and drink coffee in her cozy, bright living room. Her interior is light and classic - with a touch of beautiful colors.
She matches the art on the walls in her blue sweater.
"Living here is an alternative to regular housing - it's something completely different." She says when we ask about her home in Augusthaven. "It opens up the possibility of new communities."
Vibeke is 71 years old and has lived in Augusthaven for just over a year.
In that time, she has become a regular part of the community and the board - so she knows a thing or two about what it means to start a new life in a housing community.
"This is not a collective or sheltered housing - it's a community. So it's important that you are physically and mentally ready to participate and meet new people. That you see them as a joy and a resource in your life." She explains as our cameraman adjusts the microphone on a small clip on her shoulder.
We ask Vibeke what it really takes to get a good start in the community...
And there's no doubt that Vibeke has had a good start to her life in Augusthaven.
In all Agora Gardens' residential communities, residents organize themselves into guilds. Small and large communities of interest that provide great opportunities to share fun, social experiences.
And in Augusthaven , Vibeke is a member of several guilds - almost all of them, in fact.
As you can see, Vibeke smiles big when talking about the many shared experiences she has with her neighbors.
She says that the residents enjoy meeting in the covered atrium garden and making use of the shared facilities. The common room is particularly popular.
There's a fully equipped kitchen with access to a large terrace - and dining space for around 30 people. If more people are gathered, they open the door and move out to the small, covered courtyard in the atrium garden. Here they can all gather.
In just one year, Vibeke has created a lot of good relationships and wonderful memories from the neighborhood.
"Moving in here has been very rewarding for me," she explains. "I've made new acquaintances and relationships - some closer than others - and I've been able to activate some resources in myself that may never have been used before."
"I'm challenged and inspired by my neighbors and I feel that I am an inspiration to others. I see them - and they see me."
We pack up our equipment and say goodbye to Vibeke, who closes the door to her home behind us.
We know we'll see her soon - because she's as much a part of Augusthaven as the sand-colored stones we step on as we walk through the fragrant garden on our way to the car.
