Get traveling with Karin
It's great to travel - and to have someone to do it withÂ
Are you approaching the end of your working life? Or have you already retired? Then you may also be feeling the travel bug.
You're far from the only one.
We know from our fun-loving residents that longing often comes as there is less work and more energy for adventure and experiences in everyday life.
And what better time to see a bit of the world?
Maybe you're already an experienced globetrotter who enjoys traveling alone. But if, like us, you enjoy both security and good company, it's great to have someone to travel with.
Whether you dream of a group trip where you can travel "alone" with others - or whether you want to go on a trip just for singles over 50, in the Agora Gardens you are rarely far from a potential travel partner.
In our residential community, Sophushaven, the dream of group travel for seniors is alive and well. And before the year is out, a handful of residents will take a trip to warmer climes.
Neighbors on a New Year's trip
Karin is a resident at Sophushaven in Slagelse - and she is one of those who thrives best in a social and active everyday life. She loves to travel, and even though she's alone, she doesn't hold back from going out and experiencing what the world has to offer.
Last year, Karin spent New Year's Eve with her toes buried in the warm sand on the sunny island of Gran Canaria. Here she was part of a group trip for singles.
"Traveling with others who are also alone gives you peace of mind. It's also the easiest way to travel when you want to look after yourself and socialize at the same time. You don't have to burden couples and other travelers because you're looking for contact." Karin tells us about her experience.
And it was this trip to the Spanish archipelago that gave Karin an idea: to plan a joint New Year's trip for the fresh residents of Sophushaven.
"I told them about my singles trip and immediately someone said they wanted to experience it too," Karin explains. "So we started planning it."
For Karin, it makes sense to travel together, separately. And the good neighborliness forms the perfect basis for a journey with room for both privacy and lots of fun and cozy togetherness.
All of us who live here come from many different backgrounds. Many have become lonely, either by choice, or because their partner has passed away - or perhaps moved into a nursing home. And then you can be left with the desire to do something new and experience something. We are very different, but we are also very good at accommodating each other. We respect each other."
For good reasons, we can't say how the upcoming trip will go - but we look forward to following the Sophushaven adventurers in their new little travel club. And to wishing them a warm and sunny New Year.
