The start of our new chapter
Meet Hanne and Erik who are moving into Roberthaven in December Â
Expectations for change and new relationshipsÂ
Hanne and Erik lived for years on a country estate on Falster surrounded by lots of animals and a lush garden. But now they are looking forward to moving into the community at Roberthaven and no longer having to worry about maintaining a large garden. The time for change has come and the move to Roberthaven is approaching. They are both very excited about the next chapter in their lives.
"We can't wait to be able to watch the sheep walking in the fields from our balcony. We had sheep, chickens, dogs, cats and rabbits on our old country estate on Falster, so it will bring back good memories," says Hanne.
The discovery of Roberthaven
Hanne and Erik first heard about Roberthaven from a friend who lives in a senior community nearby. They started looking into the possibility of moving to a senior community close to their current home, Græsted. They quickly realized that Roberthaven was exactly what they were looking for, and it wasn't long before they signed up for the VIP list. They already knew in advance that they wanted to live on the second floor, as the view is a priority. When they saw that number 18 was available, they were sure it was the one. Number 18 has a special meaning in their family. They got married on January 18, their one grandchild was born on January 18, and their son was born on February 18, so of course Hanne and Erik must also live in number 18.
"The first time we were made aware of a senior cohousing community was in 2021 in the newspaper. After that, I couldn't let go of the idea of living this way. It took some time to convince Erik, but in the end he could see that it would give us new joy in life. Now we're counting down together until December."
"We are most excited about the new community that we will be a part of. We especially look forward to participating in the various guilds that will be established. Unfortunately, I can't knit, but I'll bring my spinning wheel, which I've had since we kept sheep," says Hanne, as the joy of anticipation radiates from her.
The community at Roberthaven is the main reason they are looking forward to moving in. They are especially looking forward to being around other people their own age and making new acquaintances. But the fact that the building is made of wood also excites the couple. The smell of wood reminds Hanne of her grandfather's workshop from her childhood. He was a master carpenter with his own workshop in Rødby, and there was always a fantastic smell of wood. "It's like reliving those days," Hanne enthuses about the first time she visited Roberthaven. Roberthaven's low carbon footprint is also very important to Hanne and Erik. Their son works and teaches sustainability and is therefore also very enthusiastic about the building. He has also been to the open house several times.
New relationships
Hanne and Erik have been to the open house many times and also attended the topping-out ceremony. So even before they move in, they have already established relationships with their future neighbors. Hanne is very much looking forward to the cozy gatherings that await and getting to know the other residents. She would also like to learn to play petanque so that she can challenge the other senior community in the area, which also has a petanque court.
"We're already on a first-name basis with many of our future neighbors, as we've been to the open house several times. Now we're looking forward to getting to know them all even better and forming new relationships," she says.
Roberthaven will be ready for occupancy in December 2023, with around 70 households moving into the new community.
